REIPERSBERG
Grape variety: Grüner Veltliner | Area: 1,80 ha | Altitude: 340-350 m |
Age of vines: planted 1970 | Soil: weathered primary rock | Alignment: from East to West |
On the highest point of the site Reipersberg we can see the neighboring town Groß Reipersdorf –
this situation gave this vineyard its name. It is located on a sea level of around 300 meters and is partly surrounded by acacia forests.
Here we cultivate 2.5 hectares.
Reipersberg subsoil is composed of very brittle granite with crevasse fillings of quartz,
while the top soil shows an around 30 to 45 cm thick layer of weathered granite (loamy sand).
No wonder that these wines are so unique in their mineral structure.
The soil situation changes naturally in the course of the hillside. Our vineyards are located solely in the uppermost area
where granite dominates. This is where we planted our Grüner Veltliner and Muskateller.
Further downwards the soil reveals a higher loess component. In this area we do not cultivate vineyards.
